May Measurement Month – Get your Blood Pressure Checked

A third of adults in the UK have hypertension and don’t realise it. We are helping to raise awareness of the risks of high blood pressure throughout May Measurement Month and on World Hypertension Day, 17 May, to encourage people to get their blood pressure checked regularly.

High blood pressure is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and significantly increases the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Early detection and treatment can help people live longer, healthier lives.

We have a system of lending  monitors for those of you who do not have your own for further information you can visit our Blood Pressure Monitoring page. Community pharmacies across England also offer an NHS blood pressure check service to people over 40, as an easy and convenient way for people to ‘know their numbers’. If anyone receives a confirmed high blood pressure reading, the pharmacist can follow up with continuous ambulatory monitoring over a 24-hour period and urgently refer them for further treatment.

We are taking part in the Artists Open House (AOH) Festival by creating the OpenArtSurgery, a 3D health promotion & fund-raising gallery to help patients.

Visit the links below and explore the gallery and games.

We want to help raise funds outside of Woodingdean.  If you like the fund-raising ideas, you can support them by sharing the ideas beyond Woodingdean.
